Sign In Steps
Step 1
Search: motus.dot.gov
Step 2
Click on “Sign in Login.gov.”
Step 3
Enter your registered email address and password, then sign in.
Step 4
After signing in, the Identity Verification screen will appear. Follow the IDEMIA Automated Verification process:
- Scan the QR code displayed on the screen using your mobile device.
- Complete the identity verification process on the IDEMIA website.
- Return to this page after verification is complete.
Step 5
After scanning the QR code, the Welcome screen will appear on your mobile device. Click the "Start" button to continue.
Step 6
Select your country from the drop-down menu.
Step 7
Choose your Document Type and click "Continue."
Step 8
The identity document review screen will appear. Review the instructions and complete the following steps:
- Scan your identity document.
- Complete the facial scan.
- Finish the identity verification process.
Click "Continue" to proceed.
Step 9
The Position the Document Within the Frame screen will appear. Place your document within the frame and click "Continue."
Step 10
Allow camera access when prompted so the system can scan your document.
Step 11
Place your identity document within the on-screen frame and capture the image.
Step 12
Flip your document and scan the opposite side when prompted.
Step 13
Review the captured images before submitting. Ensure that:
- All corners of the document are visible.
- All information is clear and readable.
- There are no glares, shadows, or obstructions.
Step 14
After review click on a “ Submit” Button

Remove any face coverings and click "Continue."
Step 16
The message "Hold your phone vertically in front of your face" will appear. Click "Continue."
Step 17
The Position Your Face Inside the Oval Frame screen will appear. Click "Continue" to proceed.
Step 18
Position your face within the oval frame and follow the on-screen instructions. Remain still until your face is successfully captured.
Step 19
Once identity verification is successfully completed, return to the device where you originally signed in and continue with the remaining steps.
Step 20
The Identity Verification Complete screen will appear. Click "Next."
Step 21
Complete the User Profile Information section and click "Submit."
Step 22
If a USDOT Number is associated with your Login.gov account and you are an existing registrant, select "Link USDOT Number" to claim your existing USDOT Number.
Step 23
The Claim USDOT Number screen will appear. Select your USDOT Number and click "Continue."
Step 24
The system will send a verification code to your registered email address. Enter the verification code and click "Submit."
Step 25
Once the verification code is successfully validated, your USDOT Number will be linked to your Motus account, and you can begin managing your company information and registrations.
Step 26
The "Who Will Be Completing This Application?" screen will appear. Select "I will designate a Transportation Service Provider (TSP) to act on my behalf."
Step 27
Enter the Transportation Service Provider (TSP) Filer Number in the designated field.
Step 28
After entering the Filer Number, click the "Search" icon.
Step 29
Once the search is complete, the corresponding TSP Name and Filer Number will be displayed. Verify that the information is correct, then click the "Designate" button to authorize the TSP and send your application to our support team for processing.
