The Biennial Update, also called the MCS-150 form update, is a check-in you do every two years with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). If you have a USDOT number—whether you’re a tiny delivery service or a big-time freight broker—you’ve got to keep this form up to date.

Filing the update tells the FMCSA information like your company’s address, how many vehicles you run, and what kind of cargo you haul. Missing this update can get your USDOT number shut down, which means you can’t legally operate until you fix it. That could cost you money and waste a lot of time.
